Island Picnic & Tree Top Fun

Planning a fun day out for the whole family can be challenging, but this itinerary will make it feel simple. A great day trip for 'outdoorsy' families on the French Riviera. Suitable for children from 8 years to grown up kids.

The day trip includes great local produce, a boat trip, an island paradise, swimming, sunbathing and a fun tree top adventure.

For families with older relatives who do not wish to participate in the tree top adventure, our Friend in France guides have plenty of ideas to keep them happy, including visiting the Auguste Escoffier culinary museum or heading to St Paul de Vence to visit art galleries and the beautiful medieval village. Sightseeing options are plentiful.

The itinerary is based on 8 hours starting at 9am, but we can adjust the tour to suit your specific interests and time constraints. Just contact us to discuss options.

THE ITINERARY :

1st STOP - Forville market

Start the day at the bustling, colourful and wonderfully authentic Marché Forville market at the foot of Old Cannes with your Friend in France guide. As you wander the market stalls, let the colours, fragrance and locals inspire you to pick and choose fruit, veg, cheese, bread and wine for your island picnic lunch. (cost of picnic not included)

Once your shopping bags are full of goodies, take a seat at a local café to people watch and enjoy a coffee while your Friend in France guide brings the van to pick you and your shopping up.

2nd STOP – Boat Trip to St Marguerite Island

Drive just 5-10 minutes around the port to the ferry departure point. The boat trip only takes about 15 minutes but it’s a real treat to get out on the water to enjoy the view of the Côte d’Azur (French Riviera) from the sea.

3rd STOP – St Marguerite Island

On St Marguerite island, your Friend in France guide will take you across the island to a peaceful and picturesque area where you can set up your picnic in the shade of beautiful parasol pine trees.

Once you’ve feasted on the goodies selected at the market in Cannes, your guide will take the remains of your picnic back to the mainland, leaving you free to swim, sunbath and generally relax for an hour or two before hopping on a boat back to Cannes.

4th STOP – Treetop Obstacle Course

If you still have energy to spend, the last stop will be the national park near Villeneuve Loubet village for a tree top adventure.

This obstacle course is so much fun, not only for kids but for the whole family. After selecting one of 4 paths catering for different levels of fitness and experience, set off to slide, swing and climb from tree to tree.

The obstacle course takes about 2 hours to complete, but you need to allow for a total of 3 hours on site.
